JROTC is a Leadership and Character Development program. It prepares high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and privilege as American citizens. The program is a stimulus for promoting graduation from high school and it provides instruction and rewarding opportunities, which will benefit the student, community, and nation. In addition to an Academic Elective credit for the course, cadets can also earn a varsity letter for competing on the teams. such as, Color Guard, Drill Team, Raider Challenge Team, Academic Leadership Team Other activites include, Cadet Challenge Competitions, Leadership/Adventure Training Events, field trips, an annual District JROTC Military Ball, and an optional Summer Camp. They also earn rank and JROTC awards for their achievements. JROTC provides education and training in skills and knowledge such as Leadership, Service Learning, Community Service, Map Reading, and Goal Planning which are useful to students upon graduation from High School. In addition to classroom instruction, students (cadets) are expected to properly wear the JROTC uniform one day per week (Mandatory), and participate in physical training events as required.
