Kale Katt, Head BIT Academy Principal

Mr. Katt has been involved in public education for eight years. He graduated from the University of Iowa, where he threw the javelin and the hammer on the track & field team, with a bachelor’s degree in English. He then went to Kansas State University and earned a bachelor’s degree is Education. He taught at Riley County High School (Freshman English, Senior English, Composition I & II, Debate, and Forensics) and coached middle school and high school track & field and high school football. During his last two years as an English teacher, he earned a master’s degree in School Leadership from Baker University. In August 2014, he took the position of the Business and Information Technology Academy Principal at Junction City High School.

Outside of education, Mr. Katt enjoys spending time with his wife Megan and his daughter Everly, who, in August, celebrated her first birthday. He loves hunting, fishing (being outdoors, really), the Iowa Hawkeyes, the K-State Wildcats, reading, writing, and learning. During the spring, he also trains for and runs in a number of half-marathons.

Over the past three years, Mr. Katt has thoroughly enjoyed being the BIT Academy Principal, getting to know the students and staff of USD 475 and the Geary County community.
