Exceptional Student Services,
The Exceptional Student Services Division is provided for children with special needs. The Indiviudal with Disabilities Education Act assures that all students receive the same educational opportunities as all students. Some children and youth need additional specialized instruction to reach their full potential. Geary County Schools USD 475 is committed to providing programs and services to children with exceptionalities to reach their potential for the future. USD 475 offers a continuum of programs and services that are tailored to meet the needs of each individual child. Each child is entitled to an appropriate public education and the opportunity to succeed.
Nicole Nutter is responsible for preparing the state personnel report, billing and purchasing, travel arrangements, extra-duty vouchers, and helping to organize most of the events and meetings held for and within the department. In addition, she is the department receptionist and is happy to assist you.
Traciann Petite works with a team of eight special education coaches who, in turn, work with case managers across the district. Coaches assist teachers in maintaining compliance with special education paperwork and practices, as well as coach case managers for instrucitonal improvement.
Kim Williams works with Medicaid records and data. Her main focus is Medicaid reimbursement. She maintains related service provider records and service logs and will assist with data entry for students who receive gifted services.
Susan Payne works with Medicaid records and data. Her main focus with Medicaid is state reporting. She also assists the MIS Data Clerks with speech related data entry in the department's student management system.
Crystal Leach is responsible for maintaining correct records in the department's student management system. She assists case managers with data entry into that system and ensure IDEA Indicators are correctly reported to the state.
