November is the beginning of the holiday season. After our Fall Festival, the days will fly by till Winter Break. We only have two school days the week of Thanksgiving. If you need an extended break that is a good week to take it. We always encourage long weekends or holiday breaks instead of taking a week off during a regular school week. We need all our BEARS at school as much as possible. We can't teach them if they are not here.
Thanks for ALL our parents for showing up to parent teacher conferences. I hope that you found it helpful. We know that we learned more about our students. We also want to encourage you to be a part of Math Night and Holiday Decorating night. Holiday decorating is on December 2nd. Adults only--we like to surprise the students with decorated hallways the next morning. That only works if the students stay home when we decorate.
Thanks for letting us being a part of your child's lives. We love watching them excel.
Ware Elementary is situated on 6795 Thomas Ave. We are one of the largest schools on post with 550 to 750 students. This year we anticipate enrollment will change as Picerne housing development continues to grow on McClellan Place. It is always exciting to have more Ware Bears.
Ware has received various recognitions for its outstanding academic performance by their students. Staff at Ware believe we only have one opportunity each year to effect a students learning. It is up to us to make sure the each student gets what he needs to be successful. So don't be surprised if a teacher calls you and says," Johnny is doing wonderful. I'd like to set up a plan so that he can improve even more."
Ware staff is hard at work moving to the Common Core Standards. This requires new ways of thinking, teaching and learning. However we believe once we work through the changes your children will benefit from the common standards that will be implemented throughout the 50 states. No more should you run into, "My old school didn't expect them to learn multiplication in 3rd grade so my student is behind." We are also ALL measuring reading using LEXILES. This should help with the understanding of student reading skills.
If you EVER have questions please call, 785-717-4600. Our secretaries: Norma, Olga, Juli and Karla will be glad to assist you. They may not have all the answers but they will find out.
